About Gail Bedford

Originally trained as an Infant teacher, Gail went on to teach all ages from Nursery to Middle School working with children aged 3 to 12 years.
During her 22 years of Headship she worked to create a learning environment that nurtured the individual offering both challenge and inspiration to children and introducing innovative teaching methods that enabled practitioners to develop and lead change from within a successful professional community.
Gail has been involved in Research and frequently contributed to the education debate, valuing the professionalism of like minded colleagues who have also worked to keep the child at the heart of all they do.

 In recent years Gail has:-
- Been a founder member of the NPEA (National Primary Education Alliance) and an active member of the successful pressure group working for the removal of the formal Sat’s testing at 7.

- Been a member of the Workforce Remodelling group of Dudley LA.
- Trained as a Primary Strategy Consultant Leader supporting new schools each year for 3 years and most recently leading on the Sustaining Success Programme.
- Worked successfully with the Head and Senior Management Team to help remove their school from Special Measures.
- Been a member of the Ncsl pilot Executive Leadership Programme looking at Systems Leadership.
- Worked with the Dfes / Innovation Unit on Personalisation (see "Picture This" article in Publications)
and Transition Foundation Stage to KS1.
- Supported the work of the Early Years department of Redbridge LA.
- Worked to develop “6’s & 7’s”: A programme to support the Mental Wellbeing of Children aged 6 & 7.
Currently Gail is working to:-
- support the Guernsey Island schools, acting as consultant Early Years Advisor.
- extend the work on "6's & 7's" by delivering the programme to practitioners across the West Midlands and London Regions.
- complete the draft for her book on the importance of Parental Engagement with a child's learning.
